  • Responses of Social Movements to the Spanish Presidency of the EU

    To mark the Spanish Presidency of the European Union, dozens of Spanish organisations have decided to unite to express their condemnation, once again, of the capitalist and neoliberal project which the EU represents. These organisations are coordinated with others in the rest of the European Union and Latin America.

  • 25th Anniversary of Bhopal’s Disaster

    It has been already 25 years since the Bhopal Disaster in India. On December 3 , 1984 there was a leak of Methyl Isocyanate in one of the pesticide plants of the American multinational Union Carbide (subsequently merged with Dow Chemical). The leak affected almost half a million people, of whom 23,000 died during the first hours.

    Ecologistas en Acción echoes and supports the declaration by Via Campesina (an International Peasant Movement), appalled by the arrogance of the private sector and especially by Nestlé, given that they are responsible for the food crisis.

  • Ecological Agriculture Consultancy and Promotion Service

    Agroecology is a conception of rural development along with agriculture and stockbreeding which sees as a whole the ways to manage natural resources and the ways society is organized in different cultures. Agroecology, when applied to Spanish rural areas, provides with several possibilities, as for instance: ecological agriculture production techniques, ways of direct trading and the way producers and consumers organize themselves along with the importance of preserving traditional market gardens in villages.

  • Ecological Agriculture Promotion Project

    This project comprises Training Actions dealing with ecological food production and trading, a Consultancy Service concerning ecological agriculture production and an International Seminar about Canales Cortos de Comercialización (Short Supply Networks) for Ecological Agriculture as well as an agricultural activity promotion and ecological food consumption campaign.

  • Spanish State Meeting against Waste Incineration in Cement Industries

    The first Spanish state meeting of the Coordinating Committee against Waste Incineration in Cement Industries took place this weekend in Ponferrada. It was organised by the Waste Area of Ecologists in Action and the platforms of Montcada i Reixac, Bierzo Aire Limpio, Toledo Aire Limpio and Aire Net of Sant Feliú de Guíxols.

  • In support of the newspaper Egunkaria and the people accused

    It should never have happened, but in February 2003 the Spanish National Criminal Court (Audiencia Nacional) closed down Egunkaria, the only daily published in the Basque language, and proceeded to arrest several of its executives, on the basis of a report drawn up by the Spanish Police (Guardia Civil).

  • Prioritise Recycling Programmes in Order to Mitigate Climate Change

    On the Global Day of Action against Waste Incineration the Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives (GAIA) made up by 63 associations (including Ecologists in Action) from 88 countries urged the government to support and prioritise waste prevention, reduction, reusing, recycling and composting programmes. These programmes, also known as Zero Waste strategies, should be among the plans financed by funds directed at mitigating the effects of climate change.

  • Big Jump 2009 in Murcia: For an Alive River

    Ecologistas en Acción de la Región Murciana has chosen the beach of Río Segura, in its way to Calasparra, for the celebration of the Big Jump this Sunday 12 July.
